Project Overview
Creation of an icon for the Nonprofit Immersion Program within the Department of Leadership and Community Engagement at The Ohio State University, as well as digital recruitment materials for the program. This project was completed during my graphic design internship with the Office of Student Life.
Deliverable 1: Icon
In my final deliverables for this portion of the project, I designed and created a new icon for the Nonprofit Immersion Program's marketing materials using adobe Illustrator. I created a logo that embodies connection, community, leadership, and relationship building, all in which are vital aspects of the program's mission.

Final Icon Design
Design Process
The first iteration includes a circular design connecting icons that represent each of the three pillars of the program's mission. Starting at the bottom right and moving clockwise the icons symbolize prepare, provide and support.

First Iteration

The second iteration was an attempt to simplify the icons for the three pillars of the mission down to a gear, a heart, and a buckeye. Then, a hand was added to symbolize the uplifting nature of community.

Second Iteration

The second iteration lacked the representation of leadership, a major component of the program. So, for the third iteration I chose to use a light bulb icon to represent the nature of leadership and new ideas.

Third Iteration

For the final iteration that ultimately would become the final icon design, I decided to go in almost a completely different direction. After working with other designers on my team and getting feedback during weekly meetings, I realized that the icon needed to better represent the idea of community leaders and human connection. I decided to go back to my original idea of a circular design, but now with people creating that form to symbolize the connection of community. The buckeye in the center represents the buckeye community at Ohio State and the idea that students can work with the program to use their leadership skills while working with a nonprofit community partner.

Deliverable 2: Digital Recruitment Marketing Materials
The digital marketing materials for this project included a digital screen, social media content, and a tower screen for the Tom W. Davis clock tower on The Ohio State University's campus. This portion of the project required me to incorporate the icon, program information, call to action, QR code, and a sign-off onto digital materials that are cohesive, effective, and that uphold the brand guidelines.
